video to dvd

    Hi,

    I have a dell inspiron 1100 laptop, I am trying to copy my old videos and home movies onto dvd but have failed so far, I've tried differnt cables and software and bought dvd creator software and cable combination in argos but none of it works for me.

    Any help would be relaly appreciated. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

    You may be better putting this question to the "Audio-Video" editing fourm, also under "Arts" from the menu above.

    As far as I can help: I'm presuming the laptop has a DVD burner on it, in which case, you should mainly be trying to concentrate on getting the footage from VHS to PC. The VHS player and the cables are the main things you'd need to worry about, in my opition...

    You need some sort of USB video capture device, like this:

    Capture to mpeg2 format (use DVD PAL settings) - the bundled software should be OK. Edit/clip the video if required (something like Womble MPEG Wizard), then use DVD Creator to convert your mpeg2 to .vobs and insert title menus etc. Burn to DVD (either DVD Creator or Nero).
