Yeah, Frantic was woeful alright. I hate EVERYTHING by The Beautiful South and Simply Red(*me shudders*)

I like The Unforgiven II, although I agree with Frantic, and the whole St Anger album.

Here's one: anything by Motorhead. *dusts hands*

And anything by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Man they suck.

the ignorance of some people is overwhelming.

its one thing not likin a band, but at least have the balls ot admit they have talent.

one of the best bassists in the world
one of the best modern day guitarists
    one of the best drummers.

    suck?
you mightnt like them, or their music, but at least admit they got talent

    Christ, where to start.

Anything by Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, Busted, etc.

Ok, the bassist argument could be valid, but then I'd have to ignore Les Claypool who defecates all over anything by Flea. I would also have to ignore the bassist from Spastic Ink.

Furthermore, where you get best guitarist or best drummer is beyond me. they PALE in comparison to most modern musicians. The Jarzombek brothers make them seem like beginners, for one. In fact, just about every band I listen to has a better guitarist and drummer than RHCP.

Back on topic: all megadeth after Youthanasia should be burned in a ritualistic pyre and erased from memory.

    Carcass' album Swansong. Shudder.

Any Kreator post-Coma of Souls. They go from the pinnacle of German thrash to a Dark Tranquility/In Flames/Gaythenberg tribute band.

You wonder where i get the comments about john frusciante?
    *big breathes*
im not even gonna comment too much, cos.. i'll just get worked up.
the guy is amazing. listen to his solos stuff. listen to BSSM.
    hes a living legend.

he was in at #18 on the all time greatest guitarist from a poll in Rolling Stone(i think) a while ago.
yeah. usually i dont take any notice of these, but i thought it was nice to see him in there.
and IMO he shouldve been way up higher, but hey.
(jack white was ahead of him..)

    the drummer - Chad Smith.
I know nothin much about drums, i admit that loud and clear.
but i have friends who do and stuff

one guy - he hates RHCP with a passion, but he admitted to me that he thinks theyre drummer is really really good.
    loads of people say that.

i will stand by these guys all my life.
if anyone criticises them, i will be there to defend them.
say what you like about them, but seriously, these guys mean the world to me, and it sucks when people bluntly (and unjustifiably) criticise the things that are important to you

and i said "ONE OF THE BEST".

i dont wanna fight with you guys, im just passionate about my favourite band...
    dont shoot me....

There are better musicians out there. Apart from Flea, they're all mediocre musicians. And there are better bassists out there than Flea. Les Claypool for example would smoke him on the bass. I could name many many more.

John Frusciante?! Em have you ever heard of the likes of Alexi Laiho, Dimebag Darrell, Zakk Wylde, Jani Liimatainen, Alex Skolnik, Michael/Christopher Amott, Larry Tarnowski, Anders Bjorler, Bjorn Gelotte, Jesper Stromblad, Trey Azagthoth?! They would all smoke him.

Same goes for the drummer. Would he be able to keep up with Pete Sandoval, Hellhammer or anyone else in the metal genre? Doubtful.

You want to know why people think they are good musicians? Because they are a pop band. Everyone knows them so the first thing they say is "Flea is the best bassist in the world!" which he simply is not!

I've seen RHCP at Slane last year and they nearly put me to sleep! I didn't hear or see anything special in their music to make me go "wow! Now there's a musician!".

anything by busted and avril lavigne. Can busted actually play their guitars??

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,739 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

They are meant to be very good musicians AFAIK. So one of my friends says anyway. They have some sort of a grade in guitar playing.

    *shrugs*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,136 ✭✭✭Pugsley

    They still suck though :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

Metallica- Mama Said, and Low Man's Lyric. Loaded/Reloaded were mediocre albums, but those two songs suck all that is phallic.

Led Zeppelin- What Is And What Should Never Be. I can't stand it.

AC/DC- roughly half of Fly On The Wall, particularly Danger and Fly On The wall itself. The 80's have a lot to answer for here.

i said flea is ONE of the best. dont mis-quoting me.
IMO jaco pastorious was better, but hey, i never said flea was THE BEST in the world.

i play guitar, and i love john frusciante..
in my eyes, hes one of the most talented musicians/songwriters around. it goes way depper than his guitar playing for me
i'd much rather listen to his melodic style than most other guitarists.

before you start on your "teenage girl who likes pop band, and thinks shes cool cos they play instruments" you can piss off.

    theyre popular right?
so thats why a lot of people have a problem with them (people i know have admitted that)
theres so many "fans" out there, who have limited tastes int heir music, and are completely oblivious to their 4 albums pre-BloodSugar, and are only aware of the Cali & By The Way era, and even just the singles that have been released.

i saw them at slane too, but i genuinely thought they were great.
fair enough you didnt like them - we have very different musical interests im gettin

hey. im just defending my favourite band - i aint lookin for a fight.

*shakes hand and agrees to differ?*

AC/DC - Blow up your video, definitely an album that would not be missed.
    Also,
Goats Don't Shave - Las Vegas in the Hills of Donegal
That song about the milkshake, my god, the person who wrote that song for that annoying woman should be shot
That song by The Streets about the fit woman.

And back on the topic of metal:
Iron Maiden - Most of Virtual XI, what the **** were they thinking when they wrote that?
The Rasmus - In the Shadoohs, 'nuff said
The Darkness - That Christmas song they did, please don't
Bruce Dickinson - Tatooed Millionaire: again, don't embrace the ninties.
Funeral For A Friend - Pretty much anything they wrote themselves.

Slipknot- i mean what a waste of time. with the exception of Duality, what was the point?

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,739 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

Oh yeah... And Godflesh. I mean... How boring can ya be?! Drum machines just don't work in metal bands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,192 ✭✭✭Dathai

Except Meshuggah's Drum Kit from hell. That thing pwns tbh.

the entire catolgue of avril lavigne, linkin park, red hot chilli peppers, foo fighters, kittie, my ruin, bowling for soup, sum41, the frames etc burnt for good and never to return, imo these bands are awfull in different ways.

other stuff thats dire is sepultura without max cavalera (all albums after roots) and all Metallica albums after The Black Album. In Flames last album was pretty bad too.

The last 3 offspring albums bar 3-4 songs.

What are you talking about the red hot chillies are still up there! If you had of been to Slane last year youd know!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

They probably were. A lot of peeps I know came back saying "Meh."

And I rather like Blow Up Your Video...

    Anyway...

I hold Sk8r B0i personally responsible for the twin towers incident.

I was at slane but I left during the chillis, they really didn't do much for me (this was the third time I'd seen them and they get old quickly).

wow,i thought i was the only one,the chillis never really did any thing for me either. :D

    they're fun... but kinda bleh

OT, but the Chillies were alright at Slane last year. TBH, the Foo Fighters stole the show from them. They had that little bit extra energy.

    Right,
    Megadeth - everything after youthanasia
    Avril lasagne
    busted
Metallica - St.Anger album (with the exception of St.Anger and the Unamed Feeling)
Iron Maiden - Virtual XI was pretty f*cking bad, and "Quest by trial of Fire" too. Cheeeeesy
Green Day - just about everything they've done. Bunch of corporate wh0re scrotum-sucking pop-dressed-as-punk w*nkers.
Guns n'Roses - the Spaghetti Incident. Lets forget it ever existed
    NickelBack

I thought Queens of the Stone Age owned the stage. Foo Fighters in my opinion were the poorest act of the three, RHCP were nearly as bad as the Foo's. There was just nothing there that made me go... "Wow these guys are as good as people say they are".

I thought the Queens, good as they were, were a bit samey-samey and didn't really get the crowd going until near the end of their set.

I thought they were worse than the Chillis, I only stood through them in the hopes that the Chillis would be good. They were like planks on stage. QOTSA were excellent but the day belonged to Polly Harvey in my opinion. Each member of her band (all three of them including her) had more talent in their little fingers than all the other bands combined.
