My sister used to watch it. One of Steven Bochco's babies if I remember rightly. Starred Neil Patrick Harris (who can also be seen in Starship Troopers and doing the voice of Spiderman in the new series alongside Ed Asner). In other words, while the existence of the show doesn't prove you're not mad, the fact that it existed doesn't prove you're are.

dougie howser , m.d. ... na, you're not crazy.. the voices speak true
he had that dark haired side kick who was into the ladies.. but after that it's getting dark.. last time I saw the actor was in starship troopers

dougie howser is somewhat like "Parker Lewis".. damn good for it's time.. but few seem to remember them (..and I still say that Scrubs has borrowed heavily from parker Lewis..)

Of course I remember him! Used to watch it all the time. And to prove others remember it, go watch your Family Guy (I think it's the Season 2 episode - Fifteen Minutes of Shame). At the very end of the episode Stewie is writing in his diary about the day's events, just like Doogie Howser did in every episode. And just like Doogie Howser did in every episode he deletes a few lines and writes a new piece. And Stewie of course writes about how he wants to kill certain people. I was in stitches when I saw that sendup - fuppin' great.

Urban myth. The more usual form of that myth is that he played Paul on the Wonder Years btw. Both are rather untrue.

Meanwhile the guy who actually played his goofy friend has popped up since in Sgt Bilko and Ed Wood. The guy who played Paul on the Wonder years dropped out of acting and went into the evil profession.

Was it not Meg that was writing the diary at the end of that episode when they were in the motel room (after thay had all been replaced by other actors) but then Stewie edits the end of it?

    Or not.
