An eternally raging question, I wanna see what people prefer here on the boards. Also if ya choose Other just specify the maker.
Personally I go for Sabian since they're a decent enough price and I love the tonality of some of their cymbals.

Sabian. Although i'm currrently using Zildjian. I find Sabian somewhat brighter overall.

Sabian for me as well..... I find them a lot more innovative...

Zildjian for me.......i dont know why, just played them when i was learning and they stuck on me. I have played other cymbals and i just keep coming back to the Zildjians.

Wouldnt say no to Sabian AA Metal-X's though....:p

For me it's Zildjian's for me there just so natural sounding..especially the K's,,,I like meinl's too...and some of the dark turkish types like istanbul etc, look interesting, Never liked the logo's on Sabians..yeah I know..daft reason not to like them initially,,but it always made them look cheap to me,,,which obviously their not,,,the Paragons look super tho,,,mind you why wouldn't they ,,when Neil Peart designed them etc...

Wuhans for china's too...best most natural around,,,

    ciao' amigo's...Baggio..............

Well, being the experienced drummer I am, I personally tend to go for Sabian, simply because of their brightness (or lack of), it just works for me.

    Niah!

Doesnt matter what I do with my fingers... i always seem to get a beautiful sound!

    Paiste all the way

Zildjian/Sabian just don't have the brightness/sustain that I like, although I'd probably pick Sabian over Zildjian at push.

Never tried Meinl but find them to be similar to Sabian. Istanbul's are just cack:)

    I prefer Istanbul cymbals.. :)

Bosphorus would kill all your cymbals in a fight.

All hand made, sexy sounding cymbals.

A good resource for istanbul, bosphorus and agop is www.cymbalsonly.com, full of sound clips so you know what you're getting.

Right now i'm savin up for a trad 16" med-thin crash, one word.... SPOOGE

im not a drummer but the paiste rudes are FU(KING LOUD... my drummer uses them... he has a zildijan zbt crash aswell and if he hits the rude crash and hits the zbt 5 seconds later the you cant hear the zbt under the rude... fu(king unbelievable cymbals

I play Sabian AAXs but I'd really like a set of Hand Hammered, (but particularly the the hi-hats). I've always played Sabian so I guess I'm just used to them.

Couldn't agree more. The A customs are the perfect cymbals in my opinion.I currently play Hand-hammered Sabians but I can't wait to get over to that greener grass...

    C'mon Endorsement...Here Boy,Here Boy....

Dammit, I voted accidentally on the wrong one. Anyways I'm lovin my meinl MCS pack, cast bronze is where I'm at for the moment :D. When I've got loads of cash I think I'll get some high end sabien hats, crashes and ride and make the rest up with plenty of meinl effect cymbals, those 14" filter chinas are class.

4 years.... i cant believe the time machine worked.... moon pie... what an age to live in

Use a mix myself of Sabian and Zildjian, with the balance of power on the zildjian side (mostly a customs and k's).

Although I have always had a liking for the Paiste signature series, but could never justify the price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Eoin Madsen

Man, I never got those hand hammered hi-hats in the end. :( As soon as I get rich and famous I'm going to buy a thousand sets, to make up for the unrealised dreams of my youth.

And crashrides! Whatever happened to those? :pac: So 2004.
