Ok i just overclocked my barton 2500+ to as 3200+ to get it running a hlluvalo faster. It was running fine for about two hours, then i went upstairs to watch a bit of tv, when i came back down the pc was off. 'Odd' i thought. Anyways i tried to turn it back on but nothing happens, the mobo, psu, and devices are all getting power, mobo just refuses to turn on the system. I've heard of motherboards forcing a shut down from the bios when a cpu overheats and was wondering would this also prevent you from turning the pc back on iff still overheated? Fan/heatsink is stock, and mobo is abit nf7 v2.0
    Thanks (please reply asap.)

Can you get into the bios.If so revert back to stock speeds, I have heard of the nf7 v2.0 not going over 205 fsb without a volt mod.Having a stock heatsink not really a good idea.Probably leave it cool down amd do have a thermal switch.

*Smells a banning*. AAAyways, last time i checked (about 20 mins ago) the system wouldnt boot at all. Like, not even turn on. But as i said, everything was getting power, psu, keyboard, mouse, cpu. motherboard (has a light on to tell me). So yeah... would it just be the overheat protection not turning it on? I reset the bios but to of no avail. I thought using stock fan would be dodgy but it ran smoothly so i thought it was ok. How can it run so smooth and be overheating at the same time?

No I can't get into the bios because it doesn't power up.

Ok then my motherboard has a jumper on it which cuts the system to work at 100mhz check your motherboard manual for jumper cap which has this, its called a CPU FSB Select.I think you just remove it and then you will be able to get into the bios.
