I bought the HP a lil over a year ago. It came with a years sub. to Nortons with Automatic Live updates. Well....Needless to say....It sucked, I found a virus running a free online scan through www.trendmicro.com Well....Now my sub has completely run out and the trendmicro has found two seperate virus' on my PC...The Bagel.Worm.H. or something and a backdoor virus to that one. I can't figure out how to clear them out...Can't do a system restore cause the PC came with windows XP and I've got no disks to reinstall it.

    AYE I"M IN A BIND....

If anyone can suggest what I should do in direct good "girlie" directions I would love ya forever! :D

    Thanks

    ~DR~

This might be against the board rules.......

Set your pc's clock back a year or two.Run nortan anti virus live update's which should now work fine again...Get updates run full system scan clean any worms etc found..also get a free firewall like zone alarm

You can download the latest version of Anti-Vir here. That should detect and help remove the virus for you.

Next, go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and setup the update downloads... Install them.

Finally, I'd go after HP (if you bought from them) and get copies of the XP disks off them. By right, they need to supply you with copies of the software, be it an official MS copy or one of their own disks.

if you need to remaster a HP, just press f10 or it might be f11, cant remember which, at post screen (ie before the windows bit comes up) and it will load the HP recovery menu. all hard drive based no disks needed. Note back up your data first. all will be lost

Same here - never looked back. In the meantime, download Stinger (from McAfee) to rid your system of the critters in question (as long as they're on the list on that site, it'll do it).
