One of my FTV cards was either killed or died during the week. The message that is coming up in the screen says "there is a problem with your viewing card please contact the broadcaster for assistance".If I go into services and system details it says that there is no card, but my other cards work fine in the box.Any body else experince this problem?

ps;It is a BBC FTV card.

Have you tried the same card in another box???

Yes I tried it in the two other digiboxes that I have but,I get the same message on screen & in the service menu it says no card. The problem arose when I lent the card to my mother and she swapped it with her sub card.I still have a first generation card and when I put this in any box & go into the service menu it also says no card.

    Why was Spawker banned?
Seems he just needs a bit of help.
I got the same problem last Christmas. I solved it by borrowing
my friends FTV card, initializing it in my box, and then putting back in my old (faulty) card. The faulty card initialized and then started working again.

    Spawker wasn't banned
There was a user spamming the entire site last night who posted just after spawker.
The admins have deleted all his posts since then so my post saying last poster banned now looks like its directed at spawker which it is not...
    I'm editing it to clarify

Koyaanisqatsi I have 3 other FTV cards that I tried swapping the dead one with but with no joy. When I saw the i love you post last night I thought that someone was after hacking into my computer because I posted a couple of times last night and that popped up after each one.

Possibly when you lent the card it could have been out of the digibox for a peroid of time where it may have missed the signals that Sky send out
Have you tried leaving the said card in the digibox for 24 hours to see if it picks up the signals from sky.

TIPPTOP I have tired everything with the card. The card was working in the box when it was swapped with the sub card it died after that.

possibly the other box had a phoneline connected, and ftv card was inserted when a phone home signal arrived, and sky deactivated it ?, remove ftv card reboot the digibox insert ftv card leave the card in digibox for 24/48 hrs,

also see can u get a pic on "g54" add channels 10906 v 22.0 5/6 (that channel seems to work even if card has lost signal, but will not be viewable if card has been deactivated)

It must be just your card mate as my own 2nd generation FTV card works fine (used it to watch Lethal Weapon on Five last night :))

It had lost the channels a few weeks back tho - presumably cause I hadn't used it in a while - but I left it for a few hours in the box (not even mine, I was in my mam's house at the time) and they came back on.

When I am using my FTV card the box always trys to go online for some reason. I have tested this loads of times lifting the phone when the online light comes on and all I get is the Eircom voice saying that "this number is not in service, check the number and try again" so it seems that the number it is trying to dial is a UK number, with no international dialing prefix. My FTV card is a V2 BBC issued one BTW.
