Pennsylvania Hotel in Manhattan - Has anyone stayed there and is it a fairly decent hotel? After reading all the travel sites I'm at a loss where to stay.

Stayed there two months ago .....not the best to be honest but if your looking for the cheapest thats it i'm afraid ....they have renovated half the hotel and these rooms are alright but the unrenovated rooms are dire so ask for the renovated ones like I did if you get allocated an older one ....to be honest its fine for a sleep and shower in NYC your not gonna be in it for any lenght of time .

Thanks for that. I'll be there for 4 nights, and I reckon it will be just used for sleep and shower. It was the only hotel that had more positives than negatives written about it in the travel sites, and was amazed that most hotel rooms in Manhattan appear to be constantly booked or charge rates equal or greater than my annual salary.

Thanks again Mary and take care.

Email gone already to the hotel requesting room in renovated part of hotel.

I stayed there in May and it is not bad, cheap and clean good for a sleep....who stays in there room in NYC.The best thing it has going for it is location it is right in the hard of everything and a subway station is 30sec walk from the front door.It has something like 2000 rooms, and because it has so many rooms they dont mind changing it for you I went through 3 before I got one with a good view :D .A tip for anydody staying in a hotel in Manhattan try and get a room near the top as the noise from the street in Manhatten can be crazy, how I got around this is I said my girlfriend had asthma and had to be high up away from the fumes.... :)
