    Hello,

I have a hp Pavillion with a Ge Force 5700 64 Meg card in it. I know that this model can be purchased with higher spec graphics cards and I would like to buy a new one, probably one of the mobile Raedons. Does anyone know where I cna get one in Dublin or even on-line? Komplett and Dabs dont do them. Thanks,

    Moo

Moved to Computers. I doubt the card is upgradable, but it'd certainly help if you posted it's model number.

Naw, not possible. Laptop GFX cards are integrated onto the motherboard itself. They're not slotted-in like on a desktop.

The most you could hope for is a memory upgrade for the existing card but that's it. Laptop's just ain't designed to be upgraded.

Yup, generally the only ways to upgrade laptops are as follows:
PCMCIA devices (network/wifi cards, USB2.0 controllers etc)
    USB/firewire (if present) devices (whatever)
    More RAM
    Bigger HD
If your laptop has a removable drive bay like most dell latitudes, you can often upgrade your optical drive/install extra battery etc.

Some laptops come with upgradeable graphics cards, like a few high-end Dell ones or Alienware laptops. Unless it specifically said so when you purchased it, that you would be able to upgrade it, you won't be able to (it would be integrated). AFAIK HP never did upgradeable graphics slots/cards, it's not exactly common and would have been an expensive laptop.

damn!!! It is an Nvidia GeForce 64 meg mobile card. I thought since my laptop (it was expensive) can come (in the US) with 128 Meg cards that it might be upgradable.

It mght be, I can upgrade the GForce Fxgo5650 128Mb on my Dell I8600 to an ATI Mobility 9600 128 Mb,the only problem is getting the card. Try the Tosh forums-see if it can be done, and google for toshiba spare parts,
3rd party dealers are the best bet. The only thing is you'll have to wait untill the laptops been out for awhile untill toshiba release the caad you want as a spare.
