On Call Rates

    Hi All,
We've had quiet a bit of discussion in work recently regarding on-call rates and terms and conditions.

Currently we are getting around €65 per day + over time. We provide after-hours support plus 24/7 at weekends/bank holidays for 200 installations worldwide. We get calls around once every 5 days, and they last for about 5/6 hours each.
Is this more/less than any one else?
Has any one got any great perks for being on call - work provided car? broadband from home?

I'm just wondering should we be happy or are we loosing out

    Thanks,
    MiCr0

    65€ is good,

O2 pay 35€ mon - fri, and 50€ sat, sun - and time for each hour called (x2 bank hols etc )

get a car and mobile calls etc.

Also, if you ar ecalled - you are required to take 11 hours rest before going back to work,

ie get called at 0200 go to woirk day after at 13:00

Well I know the second line team where I work get a fair bit. Similar money but mobile bills, landlines bills, broadband and computer provided.. I dont think they get a car as they can do everything remotely.

Jeez man, thats a good package..

We are on call usually during the holiday seasons, christmas easter etc but
all we get is a measly €30 a day and then triple time if called on.. not a lot
to be honest and its really starting to piss us off due to the fact that you cant
drink, go for a meal, cinema or anything really as there is a good chance you will
    get called in..

    So I wouldnt complain..

the reason we're compaining is that a group we work with is getting paid twice what we get but with no hourly rate

We get 12.5% of our base pay for being on call (24/7), plus call in of 4 hours pay @ 1.5 rate or whatever the duration (if it is longer than 4 hours) if we get called.

Laptops, mobiles, and ISDN or broadband are also provided as standard.

Our oncall is all flat rate - same whether we get called or not.

We get €96 for 1 night's oncall. Same rate also applies for out of hours active system baby sitting.

€487 for 1 weeks out of hours oncall (5pm-9am plus all weekend)

Bank holiday's count as 2 days.

Company mobile (work calls only), laptop and RAS. Have to be within half hour of a dial up point and not drunk.

Taxi to work if necessary (expensed in theory.)

Thats basically supporting business critical application batch processing. So are only called by Operators.

Averages around 1 call a week, 1-2 hours duration. Have option to come in late the next day.
