Was BB5 better than previous ones?

Thinking back to previous big brothers I'm not sure if this one was as good or as memorable as other big brothers.
There was plenty of fighting and arguing in this one, but as soon as people started to get at each others throats, they were removed! (Emma for instance).
If TV people want to get the ratings up then why would they remove someone like emma who was causing all sorts of hassle and entertainment?

Do you think any of this years housemates will go on to do anything career-wise that will keep them in the public eye?
I can see Michelle doing her OK/Hello photoshoots and eventually doing her compulsory FHM shoot, but who else is going to do anything but fade into obscurity? Nadia will have her time in the spotlight but can't see her lasting to do anything of significance...

"better" is such a relative term. It certainly was more noisy, more brash and more confrontational - but whether of not that makes it better is another matter.

I agree that BB5 wasn't really as memorable as the others or maybe the novelty has worn off with these reality tv shows. I never watched any of them live really mostly watch highlights and BBLB (to see D. O'Leary!) but heres my ratings on last five years (sad person that I am):

BB1 - 6 out of 10 only - highlight when Nasty Nick was confronted for cheating

BB2 - 8 out of 10 - liked most of the charactors and Brian was hilarious to watch. Helen was so dumb but funny too.

BB3 - 9 out of 10 - my favourite Big Brother probably cos I was pregnant and not going out much! and was due my baby the week of the final eviction so kind've counted down the weeks of my pregnancy with the show (sad again I know). Also really liked a lot of the charactors like Kate, Johnny, Jade, Alex - Jade's veruca episode was hilarious.

BB4 - 2 out of 10 - worst ever in my opinion. Never got into it at all last year.

BB5 - 7 out of 10 - probably would've liking it more if I had more of a chance to watch it! Clashes with Sponge Bob Square Pants which my 11 yr old daughter watches!!!! Highlight was when the girls were in the bedsit and I agree Emma should've been kept in.

Also did you see Nadia and Jason's first press conference - Jason (the knobhead) said something like maybe Nadia could do some presenting or be the next Margaretta Prakitan (sp??) ie. the "singer" on Clive James. I'm thrilled Nadia won cos I wanted her to win after only watching it the first weekend.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it was better because if felt a lot less real and way more set up and controlled. I felt with earlier seasons the contestants felt less fake and so you cared for them more, as opposed to this summer's contestants who were very different and brash and so you could barely relate to them.
Although it was the most eventful and exciting big brother, it just felt like a soap opera...
    Still loved it tho!

Apart from Nadia, I didn't warm to any of them either. I wasn't really bothered who left each week or who would win except her.
They were without a doubt interesting characters, but not loveable.

I have to disagree on BB4. Sure, it was the worst for entertainment, b ut we had a good twists last year. such as Gaetano from BB Africa and JonTickle coming back in it. I would give this BB a 6 out of 10!

However, BB5: BEST EVER! 10 out of 10! We had everything the four BB's before had; people climbing on roofs, an argument nearly every week or two, a relationship and a whole load of freaks!
