    Hello,
I have a 30GB Ipod (3rd Gen) and im using Firewire with Windows XP, I dont Sync it with anything and i use Xplay to Copy MP3's to it. Im just wondering would i encounter any problem's using a New 40GB model (5th? Gen) on the same PC?, Im about to buy my Girlfriend one and will will be using the same PC to transfer MP3's to both, Ill be using Xplay for both, does anyone if they use the same cradle and will different Firmware types cause any problems? i think i will just format both of them with the same firmware just incase?
    Anyone have any experience?

    Sean

    nah, that'd be 4th gen.
the ones with the mini ipod style clickwheel (all 4 buttons on the wheel itself) are 4th gen.
the "ipod with dock" are third gen

you'd think apple would label them in some way
