trying to get a ZyXEL router working with UTV internet.

everything seems to be hooked up ok

but the 'WAN information' section on the Maintenance section shows :

    IP Address: 0.0.0.0
    IP Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
    Default Gateway: 0.0.0.0
    VPI/VCI: 8/ 35

everything seems to be configured correctly.

    any thoughts?

have you got it set to "dial on demand" or something like that? That was my only problem in setting up my D-Link router, it had defaulted to manually telling it to connect/disconnect.

yeah, tried that, no luck :( grrrr.

the router is a ZyXEL Prestige 645r-A1 btw.

Is it wise to have your sign in available like that? (Maybe I am just paranoid?)

it's safe as long as it doesn't work, that's for sure. come on guys, there's a load of you on UTV here, compare these settings with yours or offer some suggestions, the tech support people can't even view account usage, they said it'd take as long as 5 days to test the line. after that I'm stumped! :o

surely with the modem you have you can see if your line as a DSL signal and if its in sync or not?

yep, on the router, the powerlight, 100m Lan light, and DSL light are on. but it doesn't work. the third screen shot shows that the WAN IP address is 0.0.0.0 the lights are on but no-one's home :(

can you ping the router from your computer? (192.168.1.1) if not, its got something to do with menu 3.x, or possibly the LAN settings on your computer.

is there more then one computer connecting through the router? if so, then change the NAT mode from single-user (im guessing thats what SUA stands for anyway) to multi-user.

anyways heres my router settings: (sitecom DC-214 router)

    Virtual Circuit: Enabled
Bridge: Disabled (don't ask.....by everything i know about UTV it should be enabled,i just forgot to set this first time, and if it aint broke dont fix it)
    IGMP: Disabled
    Encapsulation: PPPoE LLC

    ATM settings
    VPI: 8
    VCI: 35
    Service category: UBR
    Peak cell rate: 0kbps
    Sustainable cell rate: 0kbps
    Max burst size: 0kbps

DHCP client: Disabled (again, don't ask...this is a wierd-ass router)
    Host name: [blank]

    MAC spoofing: Disabled
    MAC address: [blank]

    Static IP settings
IP address: 192.168.241.101 (this *isnt* my external IP..its a PPPoE thing...its the equivalent of that 169.xxx.xxx.xxx ip that the zyxel usbmodem gives u as far as i can tell)
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 0.0.0.0

    PPP
    Service name: [blank]
    Username: cs******@adsl.utvinternet.ie
    Password: *********
    Disconnect timeout: 0 minutes
    MRU: 1492
    MTU: 1492
    MSS: 1492
    LCP Echo interval: 0 seconds
Lcp Echo Maximum Consecutive Failure: 0
    Authentication: CHAP
    Automatic Reconnect: ON

    NAT Configuration

    NAT: Enabled
    NAT mode: Dynamic NAPT

    DNS Configuration

    DNS Proxy: Enabled
    Automatic discovery: ON
    User Configuration: OFF
    DNS Server: [blank]

LAN Configuration [very unlikely these will apply to you spacedog but i might as well post them]

    IP Address: 192.168.1.254
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    DHCP Server: Enabled
DHCP address pool selection: User defined
    User Defined Start Address: 192.168.1.100
    User Defined End Address: 192.168.1.199
    DHCP Gateway Selection : Automatic
    User Defined Gateway Address: [blank]
Lease Time: 1 days 0 hours 0 minutes 0 seconds
    User Mode: Multi-User

    what a funny router...
aanyways, as i said...dont ask about half of those settings...especially the bridge one and the static IP....my external internet IP is DHCP assigned though...194.46.xxx.xxx)
