I'm making a new PC for my parents lately departed computer (lightning I think, no component will work in another PC) with bits and pieces that are lying around the place .... I'll be putting in a Dual P3-700 mobo with a gig of pc100 and a ATA-33 drive (best the mobo can take) .... a CD burner a floppy drive and a sound card.....

I have a choice of graphics cards to put in it, a 9500 Pro with 128MB ram or a Leadtek GF4 4600 with 128MB ram ... both will work in the machine ... the mobo is only AGP2x though ....

I dont think my parents are gamers and I am so I would like to keep the best one .... my main game at the moment is EVE which is DX9 ... but I dont know which one would be better. I cant actually see a whole lot of difference, I think AGP2x is the culprit .... the one I'll keep will be in a AGP4x board..

Any suggestions or observations welcome .... just please keep a teeny bit on topic :D

A 9500 pro is definetely the better card. The 4600 card is a DX 8 card. You'll find that the 9500 is streets ahead in image quality especially on Direct X 9 games like FarCry (and Eve). The 9500 is also a faster card. Also you should be able to softmod the 9500 pro to a 9700.

edit: as Col Loki said the 9500 pro can not be softmodded to a 9700.

Yea pretty much what Daveyjoe said, except you cant softmod it to a 9700. Only the 9500 non-pro's can be softmodded.

Stick with the 9500pro, but the Ti4600 isint too far behind TBH.

Sorry my mistake, Col Loki is right... You can't softmod the 9500pro
