Have any of ye out there done this course. Info required for my girlfriend as she got offered a place on the course and is trying to decide if she is going to do or not. Is there much course work to cover, assesments ect.. would you be able to do this course and still hold down a part time job?

Would you recommend this course or recommend staying on in her User Support IT Job.

I think this is a very very easy course to pass. I know somebody who passed 1st and 2nd year and knows noting.

It depends if her job is in the evening time or daytime. I dont think its possible to pass and go to work during the day. It is possible to pass and go to work at night though.

I would recommend, take 2 weeks off work, try the course out and then decide. If she decides to leave she'd get her registration money's back.

I agree with elvis, it is like holding down a job while in school. I've hear that the course is quite easy if you attend a fair bit, so maybe a few evening shifts and she should be ok.

I have to say i have done this course and its not that its hard, its not too bad as long as you attend the lectures and stuff but the assesments ar something else as the come hard and fast. you just have to keep on top of them and you wont be too bad.

The worst part for many is the project as its double weighted so pick one carefully cause basically if u go down on it yr shagged.

im just finished 4th yr now but just to give u an idea of the past rate last yr my pal was in the course this yr and she said out of 2 classes of about 90 combined about 38 passed with most going down on either project or database ( in saying thats mostly down to eamon cass being the lecturer than anything else) ;)

sigh, an expert system seemed so right at the time.

I really need to get over the whole project thing.

I did that this year too, failed project and sys admin!!
    Repeating both now!!
You have to be at the lectures or you will not pass simple as that so if she works at night she ll be grand!! The project seems to be the killer for most so if she does decide to do it make sure she picks something she can do!!!
    Eamon Cass sucks!!!!

I don't think its too hard to pass the course, you just have to go to a few lectures, and do the assignments. It's continuous assessment and project that nails people. I got a merit this yr and I studied for some subjects only the night b4 the exams! I thought i was gonna fail a few but didn't !

I was working week nights and that gets in the way. Most CA exams that i sat i was working the night b4 and that didn't help! So I couldn't have got a distinction!

It's a good course not too difficult !

hmmm I just did that 098 C**p its a load of rubbish! Seriously it's the most boring thing I've ever put myself through!

And from what I can tell out of 90 only half passed (I'm not 100% on that) but I know there was a lot that failed...which should indicate a problem with the teaching standards.

Another thing to note is if your coming from the CW019 enduser course be prepared to put in a little extra effort as it 098 content seems to be geered towards the cnoc-ians more :(

    Ah well!

that's my opinion on it

    K there's

Information Systems Engineering - This is erm all that database rubbish like ER diagrams etc... tis ok if you go to classes.

System Applications - ok this is a mix between the erm theory? behind asp or somehting like that...and actual ASP... this is geered for Cnoc's I think

System Administration- this is linux, in my cwo19 we didnt get to do much linux so again this can be hard especially if u have a rubbish lecturer ahem...

Networking - seeing as cw019 only does bloomin Novell...surprise...this is for cnoc's although the subject is ok so you can pick it up quite easily

Business Management- YAY! this one is for us however...it's not hard so everyone is fine with it...so no advantage to Cw019 :(

Project Management-hmmm reminds me of DTP it's ok suppose this is easier for CW019ers

    does that help?

    Yeah cheers,

Well that sounds like a load of ****e...

Wouldn't mind the networking/linux but i hate all the theory crap.
Was told we would be doing PHP, guess it's just all ASP then!!!
