it drives me made tryng to get things ive design on the comp right for print... ya never know whether its going to work out right

i been doing this sort stuff for years and have an amount of knowledge for an amateur graphic designer....

but ya im sure it happened to you, youve sent somehing off to the printers and it comes back ****ed up cosyou forgot to do something yet the printer printed out 10000 image with blue strawberries or something

there so many things to remember and get
    wrong

forgetting to change everything to cmyk
not only changing the final image to cmyk but the subparts aswell
    flattening the image
converting fonts to shapes if ya need to
    including fonts in files
    defining colours
    spot colours
    doing transparencies properly
    the proper amount of bleed
making a sheet of an image
    remembering hairline means hairline
    the right resolution
    the right image format
    the right size

opening a file to re-edit t one laat time nad then not redoing one of the things above

doing some work somewhere else then forgetting to save that file to bring home

i ve just done a year graphic design and i learned very little more about this sorta stuff cos your still printing to a normal printing and in fact, don't bother about printing a real book format or cd format of sheet of flyers cos you only doing one sample....

i promised myself i wouldn't promise to do any design for anybody until i learned this stuff but now i done a bouchure and poster for a evening class i go, i dont' want to **** it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I, too, don't understand what you're saying exactly. But I tihk you're making a big fuss out of nothing. I never really have any problems printing. Maybe you're just disorganized.

I've only ever got stuff printed once but I asked my cousin who has been designing for print for 20 odd years for a recommendation.

He sent me to a crowd on Merrion Sq called 'Type Bureau'.

I just told the guy what size card I wanted and sent him a high res JPEG. He printed them out perfectly and even put in a bleed for me.

He just told me to make sure to put one in myself the next time.

    Bang On.

Woah! I hope you get others to write the copy

Never convert to cymk before printing on an ordinary printer!
