    Is 'Kingdom Hospital' worth seeing?

I know it's currently being shown on TV3, and i think it may have just ended it's run on BBC2.

Saw the series to rent on DVD (4 discs!) in my local Chartbusters for E10 for 7 nights.

Not bad, but is is worth seeing?

Saw one episode which wasn't that exciting, but i think it was half-way through the series so i hadn't a clue what was going on!

Rented out Gothika (heard it's muck but i like watching a bad film almost as much as watching a good film) and The Girl Next Door. Saw this already a while back. But got it out again! Still think is the most underrated film of the year - got so much bad press! But it's one of the funniest film you'll see this year with a real love story at the heart of it. As well as a kickass soundtrack (with David Gray, Queen, Elliott Smith).

I really recommend The Girl Next Door!

Anyways, back to my original question: is that box-set of "Kingdom Hospital" worth renting?

No, it's complete poo of the highest and most ancient order or grand poo.

Do yourself a favour and see if you can rent Lars Von Trier's The Kingdom, which is the original Danish miniseries that Kingdom Hospital is based on, and it is far superior in absolutely every aspect. And better yet, there's no idiotic CG Aardvarks. I own it on DVD myself, and really recommend unreservedly that you see it.

is it "complete poo" as you say, because you're comparing it to the original danish version, seeing as your a fan of that, or, its "complete poo" in your objective analysis ???

personally i havent seen either, but im planning to rent them both sometime soon as i think i might enjoy it(yes, even the new version)

No no, it's completely subjective, of course it's poo because I'm comparing the two versions. I wouldn't even try seperating them for an objective analysis, but I would say that Lars Von Trier is an immessurably better director than Craig R. Baxley, and I don't think anyone would even try to argue the point.

But lets not just take my word for it, even the braindead AOL'ers of imdb.com seemed to agree that Von Trier's original was far superior altogether, as Kingdom Hospital has a rating of 5.8, whereas The Kingdom has a rating of 8.8. Big difference in opinion there, I think you'll agree. And sorry for bringing up imdb.com ratings to back me up here, normally I wouldn't trust them, and I'd always like to see things for myself reguardless of the rating, but in this case I think they got it absolutely spot on.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that if you want to see both versions, I'm obviously not going to discourage you, but I seriously encourage you to see the original first.

    Cheers for the feedback!

I might get it out just for the hell of it! Girlfriend went into today to get it in my local Chartbusters, they've only the one copy and it was rented out.. which means i'll be waiting til at least next Saturday til it's back in (Kill Bill: Vol 2 is out next week too). There's an absolute sh*tload of TV shows i would love to be able to rent on DVD as i never catch them when they're on. Shows like:

    - Alias: Seen an odd episode here and there but never really got into it as much as i wanted to. The episode with Ricky Gervais was particularly good viewing, in my opinion!
    - CSI - Crime Scene Investigation: Never really seen this! But heard it's amazing viewing.
    - Malcolm In The Middle: Great show.. which has really lost it's appeal as of late. But would love to just sit down and watch the first few seasons on DVD.

The only TV DVD's they have in my local Chartbuster to rent are all fairly ancient: The Royle Family, Ali G etc.

No! Seriously see the original first, it's an infinetly superior mini-series.

It didn't do much for me - like it was trying to out-wierd Twin Peaks or something.
