I didn't like it, but then we rented it along with a string of 70s zombie movies. We knew nothing about it, saw Miike's name and the promise of both zombies and music, and went straight to the counter. Personally I didn't think it worked at all, it was very boring with only a handful of laugh out loud moments. But not enough of them... On the other hand, if you're into completely absurd cinema, it's probably for you.

edit to add... Rent it before buying. Laser on George's Street have it.

Personally I loved it. One of Takashi Miike's best films even.

Though I can understand where Lodgepole is coming from, it really isn't a zombie movie in any sense whatsoever, so don't expect anything of the sort, and you should be grand. Great film altogether.

I bought the dvd a while ago and I'm with Karl, i loved it, althought (not to be anal) but its the happiness of the Katakuri's
I see what ya'll mean though, its most decidedly not a zombie movie, its a musical about family values with some death and zombies stuck int there to balance it out.
the only place i heard it advertised as a zombie movie was the back of the dvd. It says something like '...when zombie attack...' so that threw a lot of people

That's how we were tricked, and like I said that probably added to the disapointment. Though the Zombie dance sequence was one of the highlights.

Aye, the back of the DVD looks like it was written by someone who had never seen the film at all.

Although for me, the highlight of the film had to be any scene with Richard!
"BY ORDER OF QUEEN ELIZABETH! GIVE ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER!"
He just completely stole the film altogether.
