How the hell do I pay my credit card bill with this thing. It say's to enter a bill reference number. But the one on the statement is too big to fit the text box ! ARGH !

The reference number is your credit card number - that should fit in fine

Have you set up your bill with the 24 hour people yet?

I gave them my credit card details and now I simply transfer money into my credit card. I do not need any kind of references.

Yeah, you need to call up 24Hour Banking and ask a (usually very helpful!) service advisor to set up your card for payment. Takes just moments to do :)

    It is what it's.

In the 24hour banking payment page you can select AIB VISA from the drop down. I put in my CC number as the bill reference number. Transferred 27.01 from my current account. Don't know if that's worked though :(

Yeah, you need to call up 24Hour Banking

You can setup AIB Visa and Mastercard via the 24hour-online.ie site now :)

Yeah but how do you actually pay off your bill ? I can look at all my visa details and how much I'm overdrawn etc but how do I pay the damned thing ?

Does the money I just transferred to my visa take a while to register ?

It takes about 24 hours for the money to register on your Visa bill. If you did it over the weekend, you won't see the change until Monday.

If you're still unsure, ring them and ask them to check it out!

Yup, it won't show til early Tuesday morning as payments to credit cards are done in overnight batches, the first of which will be Monday night.

It takes a couple of days, even if transferring from AIB to AIB.
Same goes for BOI to BOI.
NIB to NIB, interestingly, is very quick for cash lodgements (available in as little as 3 hours!) and balance transfers (v. quick again). Funny how the bank who gets the most criticism offers the best customer service?

Amazingly i was just going to start a thread with the exact same question.

Thats great because i tried transfering a tenner and it took from my bank a/c but did not transfer to my CC balance as of yet.

at least i know it probably works now

My main worry is transfering something such as your cc number over the internet even over secure pages might have drastic implications as we do not know who the number is available to.

I gather that this is the AIB (not entirly sure off the thread). Here's how I usually do it (correctly! :) )

    1) Log onto 24hour-online.ie
    2) In the side menu, go to Payment, NOT Transfer
    3) In the From Account, select your account
    4) In the To Utility, select your VISA card
    5) Enter the amount you want to pay. For some ungodly reason they force you to enter the value in cents as oppoesed to the more logical (not to mention common and decent) euro and cent.
    6) Enter the date you want to pay. You really only need to do this if you're paying late in the evening and it'll be processed the next day.
    7) Hit Pay Bill.
    8) Enter the confirmation they require.
    9) Voilá.

As soon as the payment is processed (usually the next day with me), it'll appear as "Payment Thank You" on your credit card transactions.

You really have very little to worry about within the AIB site.

Yeah we know how to pay bills it is to configure it to pay bills we cannot understand. for eg it is pretty straight forward with eircom or ESB as you have a bill reference number. the question is, as there is no reference number with CC companies do we key in our own CC number itself????

Obviuously this only works if you have an AIB Credit Card?

Oh, ok... I didn't understand that it wasn't an AIB card that he was trying to pay... Never mind then...

Yup, non-AIB cards still have to be paid over the phone
