I'm going over to New York next month, and plan on picking up a nice new Musicman Stingray 5 bass for meself...

Would any of you be able to recommend a good music store in the NY area where I could check out prices?
So far I've found Sam Ash & Musicians Friend

Also, I'd love to find some online stores which will ship to the US, so I could sort it all out, send it to my cousin in NY and have it waiting for me when I arrive.
music123 is the only decent one I've found so far...

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

    Brian.

was at a different Guitar Center branch and they are v good, plenty of choice. Also open to a bit of haggling. Make sure to stock up on strings - I got 10 sets of GHS for $20! ;)

Theres a Guitar Super Store (****ing huge place) near 36th street station in Queens. Get the subway to 36th street station.. basically walk down 36th with Sunnyside behind ya end of the road hang a right then next left.. then ye'll walk under a kinda bridge and take another left. If yer really stuck, grab a cab from 36th. But ye'd walk it in 5 mins.

    Thanks dudes,

Had a look at all those places, found a few more, sent a few emails, made a few calls and I've finally come up trumps.

I'm gonna get it from MusicLand USA
and they'll ship it to my mates place in NY for free!

It's gonna end up costing $1279.99 which works out at just over a grand in Euroland, not bad :D

Their site is down at the moment which is a bit worrying but I was on the Ernie Ball forum & there was a good few recommendations for this place so it seems ok.

I'm gonna put down a 20% deposit this evening,
    Cheers for the help.
