Right I turned my NF7-S M/board into a paper weight the last day ,went to upgrade the bios but forgot that my board was the version 2.0 and hey presto expensive paper weight!
My ceist is does anybody know where I can get a replacemnet cmos chip from?
Its a very common board so theres got to be someplace that does replacement chips.

I'm pretty certain all NF7's come with bad flash recovery built in. Check your manual for the right key combination to hit to load up the emergency bios flasher. I'm 95% sure my board does this.

Try holding insert why the comp is starting.

From now on use abit's flash utility. It updates the bios from windows and will not allow you use the wrong bios.

Mutant_Fruit I just looked through the manual but I did'nt come across any bios recovery procedure, think I'm screwed unless I get a new chip.
    Any ideas?

try here for a little bit of info, and here for info on how to boot off a floppy.

That should allow you to flash again safely. I'll check out the key combination for the emergency flash thing, i'm pretty sure it exists, but i could be delusional again :p

Welcome to the world of mobo paper weights, I've a lovely DFI Lanparty n MSI Neo2 paper weight combo in my room. Hook up a floppy to ur pc, if the pc doesnt try to access it u'll need a new chip. The manufacturer should be able to supply u with a chip otherwise try http://www.biosworld.com/

How did you manage to actually go through with it? I tried to put a wrong version of the BIOS on and i got a load of warning errors which gave me an indication i wasnt going right (drinkin at the time).

You can get a new chip..... www.excaliberpc.com if nothing else works.

Is the chip removable or soldered?

If it is removable then try this...

Find someone with the same board as you.
Use their chip to boot your board.
once the system is booted the bios is chached so pop back in your chip and
    flash as normal......

Have'nt time to rebuild the machine yet(probably wait til weekend),Well its a removable chip alright so should be easy to replace,as for you're question Col_Loki I thought that was the case aswell but maybe the awdflash thinks the nf7-s v1.0 and v2.0 bios are pretty much the same and lets the flash go ahead??Made a sh**e of the board in any case!
marauder interesting idea ,although is it a wise decision to remove the chip when the board is powered up? Could easily end in tears!
Gonna check all the links ye posted now ,so nice one for the advice!

Probably not wise, but it works. Its known as "hot swapping", and generally i leave that as a last resort. IT does work, but you have to be careful when doing it, no metal objects can be uswed to whip the chip out, in case you short the chip, but plastic stuff works fine. Just watch the orientation of the chip, don't put it in backwards :p
