    Hi,
I have an iPAQ H5450 and want to set it up as my mobile phone aswell:
    (a) anybody has configured the iPAQ to double as their mobile phone
    (b) does it require any additional software and if so where to get it and
    (c) if this is not possible what is the SIM slot under the battery actually for?

    Thanks,

hi, the SIM card slot on this device doesn't do anything, there were plans to bring a 5000 series model to market that included phone capabilities and so the SIM card slot was factored into the general design... the model didn't appear though - the newly recently announced models do include an iPAQ with integrated GSM/GPRS

believe it or not, not so long ago, a certain female salesperson in dixons in Blanch S.C. was selling these claiming she could arrange for the sim to be "activated" by "a familly member that works for the company",..... then on closer inspection it seems the slot is only a moulded in shape with no electrical contact that can be activated  dontchya just love the Dixons group, such well trained staff ...NOT!
