CMOS Battery Smoke - Need help urgent

    hi, as the title says, ive recently built a pc (which i've done quite a bit before) and now when i power it on it stays powerd for a few secons, then the area where the battery is starts smoking and then it powers off, and help appreciated, thanks

    what motherboard, also did you have the jumper set properly on the motherboard? even if you didnt that shouldnt have causthis problem looks like you will be returning this board.

    Hmm, perhaps the battery is short circuting... Take battery out and Clean it, make sure that the top contact isn't touching the bottom on the board. If this does'nt work just try turning the PC on without the battery...I don't think it would need it to boot up.
