    I know that USB 1.1 is 5volts but is USB 2 not 3.3volts?

    Nah, it's 5v. Also, for what it's worth, in terms of current you can only expect 500mA max from a root port (i.e. one in a computer) or downstream of a powered hub, and only 100mA max from a downstream port on an unpowered hub.
