I am getting different information from Chorus when the upgrade to their digital service will be done in Swords to reflect the full channels they advertise.

One day they say August, than December than next year.

I wonder what answers you guys out there are getting.

    Thanks

    Sven

They have been saying that since before 2000, it's never going to happen, they are a bunch of muppets, lets remember that these are the people that had a successful cable broadband service running in swords that they turned off because they let all the staff that ran it go.

we received a mail from them yesterday saying it would be done next week and that an engineer will call out with a new box. Also they have to kill some channels like MTV and the likes and are going to give a €5 refund for the inconvenience.

Be careful they arent about to stick an MMDS antenna on the roof to connect you to digital, hard to believe but a call not to long ago to them about getting digital in malahide and they tried to do that.

I think they have read the post and decided to answer ;)

Well I got the same letter and basicly we will get a new box, in the 1st week or so we will miss some channles (MTX, Fox, QVC, Chorus Sport and 1 Movie Channel) if we have the old box and if we have the new box than in the 1st week we will only get 1/2 of the possible channels.

Now I don't know how many customers they have in Swords/Malahide but 1 week to upgrade everyones box. I don't think so.

    /Sven

My box was installed yesterday and the picture and sound on the available channels is great.

According to the installer all channels should become available Friday evening (but I think that is Chorus speak for when ever the people we call experts are able to fix our crappy network, it's going to be a Friday).

suprisingly not - we got our box last monday week and they said the same - all channels by friday - and we got them all on thursday :D

Anybody getting all the channels on a basic package?

the chorus digital in swords is it the same channel line up as chorus digital mmds and same box? or are there more channels. the quality should be much better as digital cable can fit hundreds of channels unto whereas digital mmds is limited. Is it only swords that is getting the cable upgrade or is there a timeframe for the other cable chorus areas to get it?

What do you mean the display is a little strange.

Can you tell me the make and model of the box.

The chorus guy was fixing next doors cable, when he had to come in to our garden to fix the cable(the connection is on our side of the wall).
We have Chorus Digital mmds and analogue cable.
He said today that Digital Cable was available now,and that we should consider taking down the mmds yoke(its a eyesore).
I would prefer this as the picture would probably be better.

He said it was a tiny new box, and has two outputs, one for tv and another for VCR. So you can record while watching something else.
    Wooo a rival to Sky+.

Thats why I'm wondering what the make and model number of the new box is. Just to look it up. I forgot to ask him.

    SAGEM and the box here

I think thats the one - at least its the only one that looks like the chorus one pn the Sagem website (apart from the itd62).

The display is strange because it is on top of the box more than in front so you have top stand to see it!
As for the two outputs its the same as the last chorus box, i.e. having a VCR and TV output. I dont think (I could be wrong) that you can watch a tv station and record a different one. Whatever is selected on the Chorus box is sent to both the TV and VCR

    Cheers Dec

Can you tell me aswell if the on screen display is the same as the old box.
I'm not big into it on the old box. Like on the old box, when you want to see whats on the other channels while watching the one channel, you have to have the 'info' included aswell and that takes up most of the screen.

Is the program guide actually seven days, or is it the same(about 12 hours)

yeh the info thing takes up pretty much most of the screen - i have it transparent - just so that you can read it but still see it. And the program guide is still only 12hours

I got a Sagem ICD60-31 and it is actualy a downgrade for me because the previous decoder had audio out via 2 clinch cables (good for sourround sound via my DVD player) but the new one has only one analog sound out (via the normal headset kind adapter). I hate it.
