I just purchased a epox 8k9a7i motherboard from komplett, along with an athlon xp 2700 and the diabolic gaming case.

I have put all the parts together but I can't get the system to post at all.

All the fans are spining so the power seems to be going through the board.

I'm sure i have configured all the jumper settings correctly.

    Can anyone help please ?

Are you getting any beeps or error messages? Check that your RAM is fitted securely, and that the processor is seated correctly.

Check the LED diagnostics on the motherboard, and then look up the value in the manual. It will tell you exactly where the power-on-self-test is failing.

There are no leds on the motherboard to display anything

did you get a graphics card and install it? or did you plug in the monitor correctly?

I've tried different memory and another agp card and pci graphics cards..

    I have reseated the processor

I think it might be the processor as there isn't anything left other then the motherboard and the processor that I haven't been able to rule out.

Although the power is getting around the motherboard fine.

Have you any suggestions? What else could I try?

Spire CPU-Fan WhisperRock IV Socket A
SPA04B4 For AMD up to XP 3200 Mhz

I hope the cpu isn't fried, I have placed the heatsink on it as best as I could...

It seems to be tight to the proccessor.

have you tried removing all your cd & i assume a dvd drive before you turn on the pc? remove the molex connectors from your cd drives as well as the ide cables then see will it work! it could be a faulty drive causing all your trouble! also try getting your hands on an internal speaker so that you can hear any beeps that you may be getting!!

That's a pity, I thought all EPOX boards now came with LED diagnostics.

Now, this will sound like a stupid question, but did you use motherboard stand-offs when you were mounting it in the case? A friend of mine had the same problem, and he's just screwed the motherboard directly on to the case. It was a miracle it was still working after that :)

You could try unplugging everything (drives etc) and just leaving the motherboard, cpu and memory. Leave out the graphics card as well. It should beep on POST.

Also, some motherboards won't boot without a reading on the CPU fan. Check that you have it hooked up to the right connector.

didn't see any motherboard stand offs that came with it.

I'm using the diabolic gaming case and that has a tray the you can pull out and you mount the board on top of that...the board doesn't come in contact with the case.

I managed to get an internal pc speaker and plugged it in...I'm now getting beep codes....

the sequences is a constant stream of one beep followed by a long pause and then another beeb...it keeps going.

Any ideas what that beep code is ?

It's different for different motherboards. You'll have to look it up in the manual.

I have the exact same MB and HS as you.
I actually bought a second one for my brother becaues mine proved so stable.
(HS is a bit noisy though).

Read the manual that came with the board to decyphier the beep code.
