My fiancee just bought me a luverly new digital camcorder for my birthday, so I'm thinking it's about time I insured all my gear.

I've got a 35mm SLR, a digital camera and the MiniDV camcorder, not to mention lenses, flashes, filters, chargers, memory cards, etc... way more stuff than I could ever afford to replace.

Anyone know where is the best place to get insurance for photographic equipment in Ireland, including cover for outside the home. I.e. on holidays, in the car, etc.

    Thanks

If all your gear is for personal use, why not just get it included under the All Risks (covers stuff you bring with you out of your home) section of you home insurance. I've about €3500 of kit insured for about €50 per year. Anything breaks due to accident, or gets stolen, it's all covered. Even have my mobile on it (they've paid up when I drove over my last phone with a tractor -honestly).
No harm trying, the worst they can say is no
