Hurican ALEX is due to be within reach of our shores within the next couple of days.

US National Hurricane Centre forecast map

    its one to watch

Very unlikely we get affected by this and if we do it most probably only geneate winds in the region of 30 to 40 MPH

At this time of the year and not far enough into the autumn, it more the heavy rain that will cause the problem-thunder is more than a possibility too.
It's pumped up a lot of tropical air, so when the sun comes out enjoy :)

But still it's a narrow enough band of very heavy rain, some bright echoes in it from the radar below-that radar image will change as I've linked to it curtesy of the BBC
After it's gone, showers and thunderstorms are still likely over the next week as the airmass over us is both tropical and increasingly unstable.
If thats what you like -enjoy too!

All those hurricanes are well blown out by the time they get here, if they come this way at all. Very rarely do they still have some kick in them, though I am sure some will remember Hurricane Charlie and Michael Fish, the BBC weatherman, telling people not to worry.

would seem that hurricane charley's name could be retired if there is much damage this time around in florida
