oh yes.. is this the cell-shaded CGI one?

It's pretty good. Lisa Loeb does the voice of Mary Jane,

Although it is wierd that absolutely everyone uses the exact same mobile phone, the Sony Ericsson t68i. Are they allowed to do product placement like that in a childrens cartoon?

damn, thought this was about the Spiderman series on C4 in the mornings... he was fighting plants with wierd eyes this morning.... so funny...

I'm guessing this series comes after the dire 'Spiderman In Space' or whatever it was called (the one where he was on another planet with lion rulers, and his suit came out of his watch).

What times is it on Nick, Omega?

Its not that one! its basd on the movie. the events take place right after the first one with a few minor changes. its all in CGI. really good. try getting the first series on the dvd. its only like E23 for the whole first season but there is only 13eps! saw spiderman unlimited(spiderman in space) not as good as the original(early 90's one) but this one is way better than that! much fuunnyer to. a little more for adults also. Not sure what time its on nick, but i think its saturday mornings!

They can do what they like, Sony ownes the broadcast rights to Spiderman. Every one of their films is full of Sony products. Tomb Raider had random Sony Hi-Fi's and Satellite speakers all over the place.

I've never seen product placement in a childrens television show before though. It's a bit much...

What next? He-man using Lynx Java?

(The t68i was a nice little phone though.. I used to have one)

I remembered spiderman unlimited. Oh, what crap!!

On the plus side, it did have the little yellow comic book boxes on the screen with each transition to a new scene.

Wait, no, they were a bad idea too...

One problem with this new CGI series is the fact that they don't have any decent villians in it.

It might be down to the fact that Sony wants to keep all the vilians in case they want to use them in the films.

And to be fair, you did get alot of Venom and Carnage in the Spider-man Unlimited. But I don't know what was going on with all the stupid animal people and the high evolutionary....

Yeah, the animal people were pretty stupid. I remember one of them looking like rocksteady out of the turtles.

The suit coming out of the watch thing was a load of b*llocks!!

Oh yes.. I'd forgotten that.. his suit was made out of little nano-bots wasn't it?

Yeah, I think so. Felt to me like they ripped off the bit in the matrix where Neo touches this mirror and gets covered in this silver goo.

    It has been cancelled.
    It's "Spider-Man" not "Spiderman"....

Kindly note that I always use the hyphen.

I like the new Spider-Man (also a stickler for the hyphen here!), but to me, the coolest Spidey cartoon was Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, with Iceman (his early days being charted in the X-Men movies now, the Bobby character) and Firestar.

Wonderful writing (far superior to old Spider-Man cartoons) and excellent animation always meant this one was my favourite. There were even episodes featuring the X-Men. Ran on RTE2 back in the days when it was RTE2 (originally!). Anyone else remember it?

I remember looking at it, and vagely, the opening credits, but not the cartoon itself!!!:confused:

I was pretty sceptical about the new animated series at first BUT having seen practically all the eps on DVD I was pretty impressed. It's reasonably adult (Pete drinking alcohol...shock, horror!) and full of energy and verve. Eps are a wee bit too short though, but it's superior stuff none the less. Pity twas cancelled.

Speaking of product placement, did anyone notice the blatant insertion of "Maker's Mark" Whiskey into Spider-man 1 & 2. Both Norman and Harry Osbourne are seen slugging on it in moments of angst and/or relaxation. You'd imagine that millionaire businessmen would be sampling something rarer and finer in their down time. It reminds me of Robbie Coltrane as a Russian criminal tycoon in one of the Bond movies swigging from a bottle of Smirnoff! Gah! It's like a wealthy beer connoisseur knocking back cans of "Dutch Gold".

I think there's a scene in the first movie where Peter is aiming his webs at coca cola cans.

I remember the scene. He's experimenting with his newly discovered web-slingin' powers. I think it's actually a Dr.Pepper can...not that it matters.

I'm sure it does considering they paid rights to have there product advertised :)
They won't be happy when people don't remember it
