hi, the internal e-mail client needs an Internet/ISP connection not WAP, last time i checked with Meteor they only provided ISP GPRS to post-pay (contract) customers, worth contacting them to see if this has changed (don't think it has though) and to show there is interest in it

alternatively a dial-up connection could have been an option but when i enquired about an on-network (Meteor-Meteor) dial-up service (like Vodafone and O2 offer) they said there wasn't one available from Meteor

until Meteor launch pre-pay GPRS ISP access - if you wanted to use the e-mail client you could try connecting via the likes of the 1892 Eircom.net 'free user' account although it will be slow and you need to keep an eye on the call costs (check View Your Calls from you MyMeteor account online to keep an eye on this)

Hotmail/MSN email don't offer direct POP/IMAP access - there are 3rd party services they can enable you to connect by sitting in the middle between you and your account, handling your requests and providing you with the content...

the easiest one (if you don't already use it) would be via a WAP based Hotmail access service you can check the 'Email on your phone' link on the Meteor WAP homepage - there is an option that brings you through the MyMail.ie set-up to use their service to connect to your Hotmail account using the browser

i've used HotViewer on a T610 for Hotmail access but needed to use an ISP (not WAP) account to connect, it is a Java app that uses their proxy service to connect to your Hotmail account - although it is a little fiddley to set up on a T610 and can be a bit flakey on a slow dial-up connection

thanks for your help, would i be paying the usual circe 2c a KB or do they subsidise when your using the data as an isp because more data would be coming in? if i have to pay full gprs rates i dont reckon it would be worth the cost

the only way I've seen the GPRS Internet Access described is that it Costs €2.50 per 1/2 MB downloaded, rather than describing it as 2c per KB like they do for WAP

when asked previously it's was for contract customers (post-pay/billed) only not 'pay as you go' (pre-pay), also they mentioned when it was launched you needed a Windows laptop, but if you are connecting via the phone then you should only need to transpose the connection details into the phone to connect directly
