Motorised Dish Alignment

I recently bought an Andrews 80cm dish, 0.3dB lnb, Motek motor and Palcom receiver. I previously had a fixed dish on Astra 2 which worked fine but decided to see what other satellite and channels I could get.
I have followed all the installation instructions (elevation angles etc) and have managed to receive Astra 1 and Hotbird individually but can't seem to align the dish to enbale automatic tracking of the differnet satellites.
The supplier suggested that I tune in Atlantic Bird on 8W as that is in the centre of the arc where I live (Kerry) but I have been unable to get any signal at all from this satellite. (I use the onscreen display to check signal levels as I'm moving the dish).
Has anyone any ideas or know of anyone in the Tralee are who might be able to help - I've tried everything I can think of and am getting more fustrated everytime I try again.

    Thanks,
    Mcas

It is difficult to find anything on 8W, even with my 1.1m dish I get very week signal. You can try your motor to find rest of the birds on the skies.
Not familiar with your receiver but if there is a setting like Diseqc in yur receiver and if your motor supports it you can try there to see if your motor will find the other sattelites. With 80cm I think you might be able to see Hispasat at west and Turksat at east. These two are the limits I have setup. If you can get those then your motor will be setup correctly and any other sattelites you can't get would be due your dish limits.

Since you can get astra perhaps using the "goto x" function might be of help. You need to know your latiude and longtitude and enter it on the receivers goto x menu. If the elevation is set correctly (from the instruction book) on the motor the receiver will move the motor to the correct position for astra 1 for example. You then adjust the motor on the pole and the dish setting if necessary. Also make sure the dish is at the centrepoint of the motor so that the dish is pointing at the same position as the motor.

Hope this helps but i have to say personally I rarely use the goto x feature.
