    i suspect the video files your trying to re encode are avi's ???? the cause of most sync issues is dropped frames, if the source is ok and the resulting re encode isnt id say your converting frame rates?? eg your source is ntsc and your output is pal 23.976fps in ntsc and 25fps in pal, making your audio slightly longer or shorter than your video if you follow, id need more detail in what your tring to do or the format of your source, but my advice if your dvd can playback both pal and ntsc (most can) stick to the same frame rate as the source, by the way why are you encoding to vcd mpeg for dvd these are 2 totally different specs

    @calex71

    Yeah your totally right i was changing the ntsc to pal and as you suggested,so ill give it a try later.i had couple of vcd video files and put them through nero and they came out fine as a vcd...the files i had were in two parts and i just wanted to put them onto a rewritable DVD through TMpeg author instead of putting them onto two cd's....so thats why i was trying to convert them so Tmpeg author could recognise them....im new to all this.....so you learn from your mistakes plus the advice you've given has helped so thanks
