with the football season starting soon i phoned sky on friday to upgrade my subscription to include the sky sports channels.
i was previously on the family package @ 28.50 euro per month and i upgraded to sports package @ 49.00 euro per month but i asked about the g1 package and i was able to ugrade to this for 50.00 euro per month.
this package gives you sky movie channels 2,4,6 and 8 and the sports channels as well.so for the extra euro you can get 4 movie channels.

    mossy,
i phoned on friday afternoon from work at about 3.30pm and all the channels were there when i got home from work.
worth a try to anyone who's on the sports channels package.

It appears G1 is indeed available again. I too phoned today and was able to upgrade to the G1 package @ 50 euro per month.
Now I get Movies 2,4,6 & 8 along with all Sky Sports channels for just an extra euro a month. They did warn me that this package would go up to 51.50 euro on Sept 1st but as far as I know Sky Sports World goes up by something similar.

Kieran, Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Robert.

Do you just ask for the G1 package and can you downgrade to it from sky world

I just asked how much it would cost to add Sky Movies 2,4,6,8 to my existing package which was Sky Sports World (Sky Sports 1 & 2 which includes Sports 3 for free). I had just downgraded to Sky Sports World last week from Sky World then saw Kieran's post so decided to add Movies 2,4,6 & 8 back again if it was only going be an extra euro a month. I don't see any reason why you couldn't downgrade from sky world to this package.

Also I was straight up with the guy on the phone and asked him what Sky Sports World costs versus Sky Sports World plus Movies 2,4,6 & 8 and he did not seem at all surprised that there was only a euro in the difference.

I tried to get on this package (1G) today and was told it had been discontinued.

according to recent posts on digitalspy forum the g1 package is now available again and it is now a valid subscription package and won't be withdrawn at any date.
