I guess Cygwin doesn't count as a single app, so I would have to say the following..

    Firefox & Thunderbird
    Gaim
SciTE - my text editor of choice
Feeddemon - RSS reader that beats anything else on the market
    Azureus

Depending on what PC I'm on I'll use either one of number 1

    1. Mozilla/Firefox/Thunderbird
    2. Winamp
    3. Filezilla
    4. Windows Media Player Alternative (plays quicktime & realplayer)
    5. Nero

if I wasn't using my own PC I'd also include Spybot 1.3

Its great to see so many people using Mozilla these days

I have to say Kerio Personal Firewall ain't a bad app, does the job anyway and allows alot of configuration to be done, I used to use AtGuard untill symantec bought the company that made it and f*cked it up and turned it into Norton Internet Security :(
Now AtGuard was a excellent firewall and it was only 3.5MB..
