Start was awful, rest was brilliant. Liked the alien and the fish.

It got better as it went on .

The animations are the exact same as Family Guy . (although I like Family Guy's animations , I think a show needs its own individuality , including drawings)

I crack up everytime I see that "no its just dust" bit. Those little moments are what made Family Guy so freaking funny. Their faces of horror, oh man its GOLD.

Not gold. Too close to family guy in all the wrong regards. The dust gag was the best in the whole six-minute clip, and that's saying something.

The goldfish and alien are...well, right now they're coming off to me as (more or less) side characters that have been carbon copied from Stu and Brian

I wasn't too impressed with it either :( That said Family Guy took a while to grow on me.

That dust gag wasn't funny just disgusting though I thought :(

shootin the toaster was good too.

don't care about all the similarities between this and family guy it still seems just as funny from this 6min pilot.

I liked it, hardly surprising being a huge FG fan, but I'm wondering if when American Dad and FG series 4 are around at the same time will they begin to actually work against each other? As in, in terms of making people fed up with the whole thing? It could get a bit much, seeing as AD is just FG with different characters...

certainly got better as it went on, and did make me laugh, although it has a lot of work to do on it.

One thing you have to remember with pilots like this is that they always try and fit as much background story into it as possible, which can seem really crap (no subelty), notice how much emphasis there was on the right wingness of the dad, how they told you the alien saved his life and is from area 51, how the son is a nerdy loser, the daughter is a left wing activist and the fish has the brain of a german?
Hopefully it will get its feet, and will work out much better in the proper show, this was just to show the network what their getting and what the show has to offer.

Aye flogen. If you watch the first ep of Family Guy everything is made painfully obvious, espically with Stewie.

The first ep of family guy was infinitely funnier than this.

I'm not contesting that. But the first episode of Family Guy was over 20 minutes long. This was six.

It was good, but the extremely right-wing dad and the german fish in love with the mother things will get old fast. They're very funny where they are but over the space of a few episodes? The Memento joke is good though.

I hope they change the animation, so it won't be as similar to family guy. The humour is different to family guy, which could be good.
