Ah, can't hack it at all (probably because I've never done it in real life). How do you do it. What direction do you start off from etc.?

    Edit: ah it's okay, found a guide: http://www.adtsea.iup.edu/adtsea/resource_library/teacher_resources/skill_log/iv_parking_maneuvers/enter_parallel_parking_space.htm :)

They key to parallel parking is to reverse in. Because you're steering from the front, then once you have the arse of the car in, small changes to the position of the car are much easier because the end that needs to be changed is the one that's steering.

So you align yourself beside the car beside the space you want to enter, with the parking space behind you, and you rear wheel just ahead of his rear wheel. Turn steering wheel most of the way to the right (actually, the amount you turn depends on how close your are to the other car and how far from the spot your are). When your ass enters the space, you should find yourself in the position that your left rear wheel is just inside the edge of the space, and about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way down the space. Turn the wheel to the left, and begin reversing again, so that now your ass is in the space, and your front begins to turn into the space. Once aligned, stop and get out.

Yeah managed 29 seconds when I tried that :) Not bad for someone who's never driven before (maybe I should go outside now and try in a real car :p).

How are people getting this in 6 seconds???? Photoshop??? :D;)

Just on the subject of performing a parallel parking manouvre in the real world. I remember seeing a programme on the tv a few years back and they gave the best instructions for parallel parking which are as follows.

    1) Get yourself level with the car in front of the space. Make sure that you’re fairly close, i.e. not too big of a gap between your door and the passenger side door on the other car.
    2) Turn the steering wheel 2 full turns towards the pavement.
    3) Start reversing and when your wing mirror becomes level with the back of the car in front stop.
    4) Turn the steering wheel one full turn away from the pavement and continue reversing into the space.

Absolute trouble free reverse parking, works every time!

    B.

Press the "Print Scrn" button on your keyboard beside "F12" then paste it into a picture editor and save it as a jpeg or something similar.
