For the iRiver iHP-120/140 http://www.mx2.co.uk/acatalog/MX2_co_uk_MP3_Players_50.html seem to be the cheapest.

    iHP-140 = £255.99 ~= €385.45
    iHP-120 = £219.99 ~= €331.25

I own an iRiver iHP-120 and I highly recommend it.

I had gotten a loan of a 3G iPod for a few weeks before I bought my iRiver, just to try it out. And IMHO the iRiver is much better.

Also there are reports of big problems with the new 4G ipods. It seems many people (about 40%) who have bought them are hearing static noise in the earphones.

    iRiver Pros:
    - 18 hour battery life (12 hour for 4G iPods).
    - Higher quality battery which will last longer, it is rated for 3000 recharges, compared to just 300 for the iPod.
    - LCD Remote (4 lines, it can do everything that the main unit controls can do).
    - Radio
    - Supports OGG, WMA and WAV.
    - Digital optical and analog in.
    - Digital optical and analog out.
    - Can record to WAV or MP3 straight from digital and analog in, or builtin microphone (dicatphone).
    - You can buy an external battery pack for the iRiver for just €4 from Maplin. It will give you about 50 hours battery life, an equivalent device cost about $50 for the iPod.
    - The iRiver is cheaper.

Really the only advantage that the iPod has is that it is fashionable to own one.
