I didn't get one but be aware that the receiver only accepts either 12 or 24 volts input probably via the cars cigarett lighter socket. You cannot plug it into the mains unless you obtain a transformer.

I always say: if your going for electronics go for the expensive one it will pay off in the long term, more reliable!

Not true, both my receiver work perfect on 220VAC.
Even with the wee dish I have exellent reception on Astra 1+2, also most HotBird and Hispasat transponders come in.

Pure misinformation there, it will work off the mains directly.

And fine works fine. Hint for Dublin folk. Head to Edenderry. ;)

    From: Inhouse Technologies
Note: The dish size is small and it may limit the number of channels that can be received in Ireland. If so, we suggest that you upgrade to a larger dish size (80cm). The system is compatible with standard dishes.
Anyone know what sise the dish is with this system?

This eBey ad , if it is the same system, would suggest that the dish is 35cm. If so, what channels could you get in Ireland? What sise dish is needed for the BBC channels?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,018 ✭✭✭Mike 1972

45-50 is recommended for BBC (possibly more in the extreme SW and NW of Ireland ?)

    "Brilliant monitor graphics, 250 colours"
Not sure on this one but from experience with computer graphics 250 colours sounds quite crap actually. Maybe its different for TV ?????

Will it be available in Northern Ireland this time ?

Not sure if this refers to the Menu or if it means 256 levels EACH of Red Green and Blue - which gives computers their 16 million colours

According to their newsletter, yes, at £69.99
    Lidl newsletter
And yes, it's the same system as on german e-bay.
Here in Sligo I pick up all the BBC's and all other FTA's like CNN, ITN News, The Horror channel ... on Astra2, all german, some french, italian, spanish ... ones on Astra1 and even the ?x? :o ones on Hispasat.

Smeagol can you get anything of Turksat (42E) on it ?

Yes, but it has to be adjusted very careful and exact, and only on good weather days. You know, it's not intended for Turksat, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it for that purpose, and thats the dish I'm talking about. The PORTY receiver though conncted to a bigger dish is a very neat little box and with a 70cm dish picks up all turkish FTA channels beamed to central and western europe. The Porty box btw. I used to finetune my DiSEqc Motor, worked perfectly.

I think I might go for it if the BBC channels and a few others work out OK in the Dublin area. I was a bit concerned about the dish size, but if it works in Sligo...

In theory one needs a 50cm dish for the Beeb but astra2dspot.jpg if one is inland and there isint heavy rain/cloud cover It is possible on a 35cm dish

In practice though given that Sligo isint exactly "inland" suppose thought that the footprint map is estimated conservatively and/or theres a damn sensetive LNB on that 35cm Dish

I'm going to take a chance on it.

I'm taking an hour off in the morning to pick one up. I reckon a fair few people will buy them thinking they can get Sky footy or movies on it. All depends on how many they've brought in, I suppose.

My brother tried to get one last time at about 9.30 in the Mullingar shop and they had all gone.

You'd probably need to queue at about 7am to be in with a chance.

Try Astra 1 (19E) a lot of the German/Austrian channels particularly TV6 carry such material late on weekend nights

Also some Italian channels on Hotbird (13E) carry this stuff

    Hi Lads

It took a lot of messing about to get locked to the sat but it worked :)

So what do think of the receiver eoinm1? What do you think of the SW?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 627 ✭✭✭eoinm1

    Hi Greenman

I have not had a lot of time to play with it much.
But what i have seen of it is a nice light unit.
Software wise it's simple and easy to use.
about 1 second ch. delay but i can live with that.
All in all is a grand unit for 100 euro inc. a dish.

    www.analoguesat.co.uk for analogue channel listings.
    www.digitalsat.co.uk for FTA digital channels.

    These should help.

Have the lidl analogue complete system - apparently the dish, lnb etc can work with a digital receiver - curious if anyone has tried this, how it worked? would a sky digibox do the trick or can other digital receivers be picked up cheaply?

I think you need a different LNB to receive Sky Digital on an old type dish!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,733 ✭✭✭Zaphod

I have a vague recollection that the LNBs that came with the Lidl analogue systems were Universal (i.e. "digital ready"). Check to see if either the freq range (10.7-12.75GHz) is given on the LNB or the Local Oscillator (LO) parameters (9.750GHz and 10.600GHz).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

if they werent universal it would be kind of pointless to give them out in the first place

Not necessarily. If you look at the analogue channels on 19E, they are all in the FSS band. As are all the analogues on 13E, bar 2.
