    Ok,

I'm running Win XP on my self built computer and it's starting up really slowly. I know from other computers that I've built that the same problem isn't occuring, so it is the number of 'processes' that are loading or what? Is there any way to speed up the computer start up time? Thanks!

    Have you defragged your HD?
Have you disabled services that you don't need?
Is your hard disk ATA 66/100/133/SATA?
    How much RAM have you...

there are many many things that influence startup times. As long as it's under 30 seconds, you're performing well, as that was the design goal og XP - to have it starting up in less than 30 seconds.

if your not running a network then you dont need to load all the networking stuff that windowsXp dosead the start. likewise with a hole load of other programs

click start and the run type: msconfig and here you can acces all startup programs. disable most or the ones you dont need and windows will start up faster.
