It looks fine if your going to be doing non gaming activities. Should handle other multimedia activities adequately.

Hmm; looks comparable to a Dell Inspiron 5150.
Nevertheless be sure to check out:
    www.dell.ie
    &
    www.elara.ie

Elara generally have a wide selection of notebooks available....

Always nice to have options available;)

Would aim for a Pentium M myself as opposed to the 4-M series; more economic power wise and more muscle...

    Elara are ****..

Check some of the big laptop sellers in the UK. You will save a fortune over anything you buy here...

The link you posted dose not lead to this spec

    Thanks for the replies.

Jesus - can you tell me the names fo suggested UK sites.

jessy - the link isn't where I got the quote from. It's really just for reference purposes, e.g. mothersboard/ports etc... It's the same laptop, just a few things different speeds etc...

    Me too.

Have you tried www.acernotebooks.co.uk ? Acer laptops are very good, you get a bit more bang for your buck. I should know, I'm using one right now...

Acer are much cheaper than Dell or Toshiba, even though you get the same reliability (give or take) I bought mine last August still perfect (like new) it’s a TravelMate 290 1.3 centrion and I very happy with the 5.5 hours battery life.

    1.3 centrion
    512mb Ram (Max 2GB)
    30Gb
    CdRw (24x)
    3 USB2
    TvOut
    1 FireWire
    InfaRed
    Blutooth
    1mb L2catch
    15” XGA

All for €1395 1 year ago unbeatable (it would still be a good deal today).

I bought it from Elara, the laptop was brand new on the market (I had to wait 2 weeks for it to be available in Ireland, I think I got it cheap because Elara re-priced it to €1595 2 weeks later.) the Machine is so quit you can just about hear it, if you put your ear on it.

Acer is the way to go I think. :D

Go €70 or so more and you'll get this:

    Intel Centrino 1.5Ghz processor
    512MB DDR
    40GB hard drive
    CD-RW/DVD combo drive
    15" TFT display
    56k modem
    Wired LAN 10/100
    Wireless 11g
    Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    3 USB ports
    1 Firewire
    1 Bluetooth IR port

    Acer TravelMate 292LCi

You lose out on 20GB of Hard Drive, but you'll get 5 hours battery life and WiFi. And that 1.5 Pentium M processor will be more than adequate, cept maybe for high-spec gaming.

xe.com says it will cost you approx €1450. One snag, they don't accept non-UK credit cards, so its a bank transfer or sterling draft I'm afraid.

www.acernotebooks.co.uk dont seem to have a good selection but I was looking at the top of the line models.
