Random shutdowns

My computer is having (very occasional) random shutdowns. maybe once a week or so.

System is usually very stable, details:

WinXP pro SP1 with all latest updates
    Kerio firewall/AVG anti virus
    ASUS k8vse deluxe motherboard
    Antec case/psu
    Athlon64/3000 not overclocked

I don't think it is temperature related as CPU temps are about 40-42 at most. I don't think the PSU is overloaded (2 Hard drives and 9800pro). I have no reason to think it is software related as I am getting no warnings before shutdown. If I boot straight back up again it seems to work fine.

Now I am not too bothered, but am curious to know what it is. The event viewer shows nothing out of the ordinary.

Any suggestions for tracking it down, or should I just live with it?

Does it shutdown gracefully or does it just reset? Have you checked the temperature warning levels in the BIOS? That probably won't be it but anyway.

windows xp when it encounters a critical error (Blue screen of Death) it restarts the computer instead of showing the blue screen.

You can turn this off by

right clicking my computer > select properties and get the system properties.

the select the advanced tab and select the settings button under startup and recovery think uncheck the autmotically restart under system failure.

This will give you the BSOD and you can use this to diagnose the errror.

I had the above mentioned errors happen and it was faulty memory which was the cause.

    It happened again yesterday.

BSOD, "IRQ_NOT_EQUAL_OR_GREATER" or something like that was the message.
    Not very helpful.

As i say, not overly concerned about it, but would be nice to track it down.
