People were talkin about this last night.
So I just copy > Pasted this from the 1.5 Patch readme.

You can get the patch fom any tribes site.

    ============================
    OpenGL Support

There is BETA OpenGL support included in the 1.5 version of TRIBES. This
is an UNSUPPORTED release of this code.

If your video card supports accelerated OpenGL, it should be available
in the Options/Video dialog. If it does not appear, check the
troubleshooting tips below. Select OpenGL as the fullscreen device, and
set the "Setup OpenGL for:" combobox to your card type. TRIBES currently
supports only the TNT and i740 chipsets. If you have another card type,
try selecting the i740 option; it may or may not work, and we cannot
guarantee the visual quality. Exception: if you have a Riva128, and
wish to try out OpenGL support, configure your Options for the TNT.

    Global OpenGL issues

There are some visual artifacts that will occur as a result of the way
TRIBES handles the depth coordinate. We are working to resolve these.
They will be especially visible if you are running on a Riva128. They
do not affect performance or gameplay in any way, but they're annoying.

All cards that we have tested thus far with TRIBES have displayed
varying degrees of pauses at times of high texture usage. These will
have roughly the same appearance as severe network lag, but are a
    graphics layer issue.

In order to minimize texture downloading due to dynamic lightmap
modification, we have disabled dynamic lights on projectiles, explosions,
and weapons muzzle flashes by default when you run in OpenGL mode. If
you wish to try enabling these effects, add the following line to your
    autoexec.cs file:

    $OpenGL::OverrideLights = true;

We do NOT recommend enabling lights at this time. You will experience
severe performance degradation when many weapon effects are visible
on the terrain and in certain situations indoors. (i.e., the blinking
    lights in the Scarabrae hanger.)

Additionally, it seems that when the startbar is marked as "Always on
Top" in Win95, it lies to the application about where (0, 0) is on the
screen. When the OpenGL window is repositioned, this can leave the
startbar visible, and Tribes positioned off to the side. Apparently
this problem is fixed by marking the startbar "auto-hide" or clearing
    the "always on top" property.

    TNT issues

"Detonator" driver set required. Available at htt://www.nvidia.com
    Pauses Mentioned above

    i740 issues

    Driver with OpenGL ICD required.
    Pauses Mentioned above

    OpenGL Troubleshooting Tips

If the OpenGL driver is not available in the Options/Video dialog,
most likely you do not have the correct drivers. TRIBES will not allow
Software OpenGL as an option. This is any OpenGL driver that reports
the Renderer Name as "GDI Generic", except for the G200 driver, which
sometimes reports this string. If you have a TNT, make sure you have
properly installed the Detonator Drivers, available at
    http://www.nvidia.com.
If you are using an i740 based chipset, visit your card suppliers
website for the latest version of the drivers. You can find links to
    manufacturers' drivers at
    http://developer.intel.com/design/graphics/740/solutions/index.htm.

the ogl drivers been in beta since 1.3 smile.gif

and afaik they havent done anything to it since. I wouldnt recommend trying it on a Riva128 as the performance is just woeful (6fps or somthing) and those artifacts look horrible. Plus it doesnt render the terrain correctly and breaks it up into triangles as it appears.

All in all it sucks smile.gif

Anyone else tried it on a more powerful card tho?...vagga?, you given it a go on that lovely Tnt2 of yours?
