Just seen part 1 of the New Battlestar Galactica.

It wasn’t bad, but it is a bit strange seeing 2 of the main characters changed to female and the whole Adama / Apollo story line.

I am going through the box set of the original at the moment which is making it even stranger watching this new version.

Part 2 is on tonight on Sky Movies 2 at 22:00.

For those in Cork with a Chorus connection Sky Movies 2 is tuning in free at the moment, so get tuning and enjoy (can’t see it lasting much longer).

Is there supposed to be a new TV series for this soon?

Yup. Coming this Fall on Sci-Fi channel (US). Given it was co-funded by Sky, I imagine we'll see it over here shortly afterwards.

I don't know why, but I found the new two parter to be a whole lot better on my second and subsequent viewings!! Maybe I needed time to adjust to a female Starbuck fine an' all as she is.
    Isn't a buck a MALE deer?
Anyway I'm impressed and looking froward to the series in January.

dont talk to me about subsequent viewings . ive watched the end batlle sequence SO many times . i find myself saying the "initiate suppression fire , all batteries execute" line over and over .

Missed it first time around. Would I be right in saying that the three hour long showing on Monday night is Part I and Part II added together?

And is it worth watching for three solid hours?

Wel worth it if you're a sci-fi fan, which I'm just gonna assume you are :)

Yeah, big fan of the original series (Best Theme Music... Ever).

Nervous about the idea of a "re-working".

I'd advise you to record it if you can, cos you'll want to watch it again even if it doesn't win you over the first time and as I said before like, it's gets better every subsequent viewing ;) And yeah three hours would would make it the two parts together.

Well I bought it on DVD. Subcity in Dublin and Galway nearly always stock it. :D

I've also heard that Sky might be showing the new series first, as its a co-op between them and Sci-Fi USA. It'll most definately be shown here though at any rate. Does anyone know the truth or un-truth of us getting it first? :)

Where is Subcity in Dublin. I wouldn't mind buying that on DVD but I haven't seen it an the high street shops.

Victoria Street. Its up off Grafton Street. I'd be more helpful than that if I was in Dublin in the last two years. :p Its the first right off Grafton Street as you're heading towards St Stephen's Green. Go to the very end of the road, and its on your left across the road from the pub.

I know the place, it's just off George's street. They're much more comic orientated then Forbidden Planet as far as I remember, I was only there once myself 3 or 4 years ago.

Well, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Despite changing the theme music :( , and the sex/race of several of the main characters it held together pretty well. Edward James Olmos (a long way from Miami Vice) makes a good Adama, not so sure about the guy playing Apollo.

    And the blonde Cylon :D
