    Hi all,

Ok, I have an application form here for HMV and they have asked some of those annoying questions.

So i was hoping u could all help with some good answers

Never seen such awful questions before....

    1) What do u consider determines excellent customer service, Give a brief example where u have demonstrated this skill

    2) What do u consider are your strengths in knowledge of the products HMV sells, How do u gain buld upon your knowledge.

    3) Explain who you see as HMVs key competitors, stating briefly who you believe HMVs strengths and weakneses are against each.

    4) Give an example of when you have promoted a new idea or changed a way of doing things in your current/ previous job.

    5) Give an example of when you have worked under pressure on several tasks and yet maintained or exceeded the required standards and deadlines.

    6) Briefly explain why you are applying to HMV. How does fit with yur career aspirations?

There they are, lets see the boards.ie think - tank answers :P

Or maybe some good webpages that answer this nonsence.

    Many Thanks,

    Herr Krupp Of Essen

Why are you asking us to fill in your job application for you? It doesn't say much about your motivation to get a job there if you can't be arsed spending the evening answering the questions!

I remember applying for a job in HMV when I was in college and found these questions a little OTT but at the end of the day the competition to get a job in somewhere like HMV is pretty fierce!

They're really not difficult questions at all, maybe it's the phrasing of them that's throwing you?

Well its either u guys for inspiration or the internet and i rather it be you.

Some answers i have been given are so "Pc" and sickening.

"I like teamsports" makes me sick to the bone

    Ah well,

    Gavin

Inspiration? PC? They're pretty standard interview/application questions you know! If you can't answer/can't be bothered to answer a couple of simple questions then i'd question your ability/motivation to work for HMV. As I said before, the competition to get work in record stores is fierce.

    rofl.

but its true. the questions are there to make you think.

i mean, if someone walked into an interview with me and i asked them who i thought was the competition to my company, and where did they feel the strengths of my business's were against that competition, and they didnt know, i wouldnt think much of them.
as eth0_ says, competition is pretty fierce, and if you cant different yourself from the other plebs out there, why would they hire you?

think about the questions, and not just what the answers are, but about why they are asked.

they look like a good set of questions to be honest. you should be able to see what sort of a character you have

as for the 'sickening team thing' get over the whole 'teen attitude thing. team play is big in companies, if you dont like, become a programmer.

and as eth0_ says, dont be so fricken lazy!
