Ah, night shifts. On the one hand, you get paid extra for the unsocial hours thing, but on the other, you lose track of the date, the day, your friends, and if you do them for long enough, possibly vital signs as well.

I used to have internet access at work, but they installed a password system and cut me off, so I got back by nicking a handful of teabags and a jar of mustard. The bastards...

If you're on your own, bring along a hifi or discman with some speakers. Loud music at 4am NEVER gets boring, trust me. A hefty supply of books wouldn't go amiss either. Five months ago I didn't even know who H.P. Lovecraft was, and now I sacrifice a young child to The Black Goat With A Thousand Young every night!

Is there a telly or a DVD player? There's obvious entertainment to be had there, whether you want to watch Shrek or some X-rated hot guy-on-donkey action...

And, of course, IRC...
