ok I have a computer and it says DVD on the cd tray, i check the hardware in control panel and it says I have a DVD drive but when i put in a cd and click to open it I get "Please insert CD" message. I get this for all DVDs, all CDs work fine.

Its an IBM laptop, i have none of the CDs/documentation that came with it, can anyone help?

sounds like the drive is dying. How old is it? It could be that the DVD laser has gone and burnt out.

i was thinking the correct driver/software was never installed and what i was wondering is if anybody knows where i should go to download what i need. I had the same prob with my other PC, i installed some disk "CyberLink PowerDVD" and things worked fine but this disk will only install onto a dell PC, whats the IBM equivilant?
