Wacky football happenstances

I remember some time years ago seeing a video of a football match where the goalie of one side kicked the ball so hard it went all the way over to the other goal, and bounced in front of the goalie, and then popped over his head and in the goal. I told a mate about it and he doesn't believe me! Also I remember another video of a goalie dribbling the ball all the way to the other side's goal and popping it in the net.

Does anyone know of these happenstances?! And if so do you have links to the information about them and videos of them?

    Ta much

I don't know if it's the incident you saw, Gordon, but Pat Jennings scored a goal while playing for Spurs and the ball bounced before going over the opposing 'keeper. I'm not certain but i think it might have been a Charity Shield match vs Man Utd in the late sixties.

Pat Jennings, Peter Shilton, Steve Ogrizovic and Andy Goram (to name but a few) have all scored goals from long punts within their penalty area.

I remember seeing the goals from one of the african nations a good few years back (maybe 10-15 or so) and there was one where a goalie dribbled from his own area all the way down the right wing, cut inside and HOOFED it into the opposition net. Maybe the goal you were thinking of?

Possibly yeah, although I got the feeling that both games were in a Spanish speaking country, I could be wrong though. Can't believe so many goalies have scored goals, that's pretty impressive. Then again, so was Greece winning the Euro 2004 :p

I'll check out that site, thanks eirebhoy!
