Where's the best place to buy blank dvd's on the internet, and whats the difference between dvd-r and dvd+r.

Try pricestorm. Difference between + and - is just that they are competing formats. If you haven't bought a burner yet get a dual format one that will do both.

Doees the + and - make a difference with a dvd recorder?

if you have a standalone dvd recorder then you have to check what it supports. I believe DVD+R is better for standalones. DVD+R's use different writing techniques in standalone players, which are much better than those used in DVD-R stnadalone recorders.

    Yes and No.

More DVD players are compatible with -R than +R. You will find players that read -R and not +R. I have never come across a player that reads +R and not -R. If the player does read +R than go with +R as it is a superior format. In the case of where the laser has to stop burning and pick up again (buffer underrun etc_, the +R will do it nearly completely seemlessly. With -R it's not as seemless and can cause some settop boxes to stop reading halfway through the DVD

you can do bitsetting with DVD+R discs meaning that they are then recognised as DVD-Rom discs, thus increasing compatibility on even the oldest of DVD players.

    Google for more info

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but it saves making another random thread when theres already one here...

    Ive found that

    www.calibrecomputing.co.uk

have some of the best prices for blank dvd's, both dvd-r and dvd+r. They do free shipping to the UK and Ireland which is always a plus. They also seem to be very trustworthy and ive ordered from them numerous times without any problems.

I dont know why everybody thinks its cheaper in the UK, Meadiawrite (www.meadiawrite.ie) and PCN www.pcn.ie are very cheap for blank discs and ink and the delivery for up to 30 Kg ranges from €2 to €12 thats about 1800 discs. PCM is very cheap for ink and deliver it for free

I just had a look at the www.calibrecomputing.co.uk site and they have a message re international orders "Shipping And Handling All orders possible are shipped daily. From what I've heard you can't go wrong with any disk that uses the G05 dye.
