You folks will still need to wait a bit longer for v1.1. Hot off the press is this one from EA.
    7.23.04 - Community Update

    1.1 Update Delay
Last time in this space, we announced that the 1.1 Update had entered final candidate testing at EA headquarters. Since that time, it was decided to hold the update for an additional week of testing and polishing. We have since submitted a new build to the final candidate process.

So long story short, there was an unforeseen delay, but the1.1 Update should be ready for release quite soon. Stay tuned to this space for the pending release announcement.

World War 2 Mod for Battlefield Vietnam Sneak Peek
Following up on our announcement from the last Update, we have for you now some screenshots that show a side-by-side comparison of the Battlefield 1942 and World War 2 Mod versions of the Wake Island, Iwo Jima and Invasion of the Philippines maps. The focus of these screens is to contrast the sparsely wooded 1942 versions with the overgrowth/undergrowth enhanced versions from the World War 2 Mod.

    Wake Island
Below, one can see that our comparison shots gaze out towards the US Airfield Base at the southeast bend of the island. In the World War 2 Mod, the increase in foliage in this area provides more protection to the pilots taking off from the airstrip, and also provides some cover for the invading Japanese soldiers coming up from the landing beaches. Also of note in the WW2 Mod shot is the higher level of detail on the sandbags. This sort of visual improvement will be exhibited throughout the levels.

    Invasion of the Philippines
Below, we are again looking at a US Airfield Base, in this case at the center of the battle area.

    Iwo Jima
Finally, on Iwo Jima, we find ourselves looking at the top of Mount Suribachi. In the World War 2 Mod, the battle for Iwo Jima takes place during the fall of night, with torches, moonlight and gun fire providing the primary sources of light.

Hopefully from this brief look, you can begin to imagine how differently the WW2 Mod versions of these maps will look and feel. Keep an eye on this space for more information on the WW2 Mod and additional BFV free content announcements.

That's looking nice - and complain about a crapload of free content :) Nice one. the pacific maps were always the better ones in BF1942. Can't say ive liked any of the Vietnam maps... they've been ... dull.
Iwo Jima, at night, with foliage.
Indeed - shame Iwo Jima's a volcano with black ash and no foliage :) Look it up - it's just a small desert in the pacific.
