I have the Zen xtra 30Gb. It works fine with the firmware it has- so I've not upgraded. I'm a firm believer in the "if it ain't broke" school of philosophy. Is yours locking up or doing weird/annoying stuff to make you want to upgrade? As far as I can gather the creative upgrades are generally bugfixes - I'm unaware of upgrades that add serious functionality to the player.

I updated my firmware a few months ago for my Zen Nx 30Gb and they had snuck in a volume cap. Thank you EU legislation

Flash it with American firmware so.
That's what I did when I got my replacement Zen with the restricted volume on it.
    http://www.nomadness.net has downloads.

Excellent! I was wondering if this would work, but didn't want to try for fear of destroying the player. I'll flash it right away now that I know someone has done it successfully.

    Thanks for the tip!

I think I am going blind - where abouts is the download to remove the restriction/?

Any I see enables the restriction.
Its more than likely somewhere really obvious!!:dunno:
